Day 110: Bethany

Day 109: As Time Goes By..

I'm pretty sure time is speeding up.  It seems like just last week I was having an emotional breakdown about the AP US History test.  That was in September.  Now the test is in three weeks.  I can't believe how fast time goes by.  Some of my best friends, who I've known since I was five, are graduating in a month.  My baby sister who I swear was just born yesterday, is almost five months old.  I'm turning 18 and entering my last year of high school this year.  Where does the time go?  In a way it makes me sad and nostalgic by how fast it's all going by.  But it's also exciting.  I get a nervous excitement by knowing I only have one year of high school left.  One year until I'm out of the house and into the unknown world.  I have to decide where to go to college; what to major in.  Am I ready?  I'm not sure.  For now, I'll just focus on that APUSH test.

Day 108: Party in the '80s

Tonight was "Daddy-Daughter '80s night" for mutual.  These are my some of my lovely leaders sporting clothes from their favorite time period: the 1980s.  I had fun with my daddy.  We went to Orange Leaf after and he was a little hesitant because, well, it's frozen yogurt.  He was very surprised by how "cool" it was.  Needless to say, my father will be going to Orange Leaf again.  I love introducing my dad to new experiences.

Day 106: Brothers

These are the moments I live for.  And the moments I'm going to miss the most when I leave the house.  I've been really appreciative of my family today; maybe because Kinsey Crabb came to Laurels with us and told us to spend time with your family while you still live with them.  Maybe it's because I missed my siblings while I was in NY, or maybe it's just the fact that it's Sunday and I'm procrastinating my hw. It's been a really emotional day too.  Tandy, Whitney, and Lindsey said goodbye to us in Laurels, they taught a lesson about dads, and I have to go back to school tomorrow.  Oh boy.  But it was definitely a good day, and I've resolved to get more in tune with the spirit.  

Day 105: State Drama

Well the State Drama competition was yesterday.  Not my first choice to spend the last day of spring break, but it was okay.  We went to Taylorsville High (where Brother Muse is the principal, and I actually saw him!) They were selling their costumes for a dollar.  So, being the genius I am, I thought I'd shop for my prom dress.  (In hopes that I actually get asked.)  I found these three dresses that I really liked and they were each a dollar! I might not even get asked to prom, but at least I have three new dresses!

Day 104: Broken Pillows

Right before I left for New York, I was trying to rip the tag off of my travel pillow, and it broke.  I didn't have time to clean it up before I left, and the lovely foam pieces are now spread around my room.  But it's okay.  Because they're like little pieces of snow that stick to your socks and pants and floor.  Maybe I'll actually vacuum them up soon.

Day 103: Home Sweet Home

I came home and this is what I found! We're making the front room into an actual room with double french doors, and the top closed off.  Those windows are new and I absolutely love them! It's good to be home.

Day 102: goodbye new york.

Wednesday was a day of lasts. My last piece of the wonderful New York pizza, my last delicious breakfast at the hotel, my last subway ride (please refer to the picture), my last walk around Times Square, my last time inside Forever 21 (thank heavens. I love the place, just not when we went 4 times.), my last pictures being taken, my last time in the hotel, my last walk in Central Park, etc.  But it was nice knowing I would be home and in my own bed soon.  Anyways, Goodbye New York.  It was fun spending five days with you.  I hope I don't pick up any weird diseases. Until next time, I guess.

Day 101: Times Square

For our last night in NYC, we decided to spend it in Times Square.  Haley, Haley, and Elisa decided to spend most of the time shopping in Forever 21.  Jamie, Katie, and I decided to actually experience Times Square at night! We found someone to draw a picture of Katie, we spent some time in the Disney store, and we were able to go to the red benches under the big screens and take pictures.  Haley Hunt even found her true love: Spiderman.  (Hence the picture of the day.)  The rest of the day was also very nice.  We went to the Museum of Modern Art, went on a "photoshoot" which was really just shopping, and saw War Horse! AHH, it was very very good. 

Day 100: (!!!!!!)

Wow.  One hundred pictures for One hundred days.  That's a lot of pictures.  I spent the day at FAO Swartz toy store, Dylans Candy Bar (candy store), Central Park, the 9/11 memorial, CHINA TOWN, and the Mets major league baseball game. Dylan's candy store was crazy! They had almost every candy imaginable; the floors were even had candy in them.  Central Park was BEAUTIFUL.  It's such a paradise compared to the loud, dirty city that surrounds it.  The picture was taken in Central Park.  Haley, Katie, and I had our own little photo shoot on the gorgeous bridge you see in the picture.  I fell in love with that little bridge. The 9/11 memorial wasn't finished, but they did have two square waterfalls that represent the foundations of the Twin Towers.  It was extremely humbling to see all of the names of those who passed away on that tragic day.  I was only 6 years old when it happened, but I can remember hearing all of the stories about people buried in the rubble.  Then we headed to Canal Street for some shopping.  China Town is a very unique place.  It's very very dirty, but also an extremely fun place to shop.  I got a scarf, a couple shirts, a cute necklace, a lovely watch, and some oriental shoes (5 dollars, baby). Then we finished the day with the major league baseball game.  It wasn't as cool as I expected, but it was still a good experience.  It also helped that it was a good game.  They played the Nationals and were tied until the 9th Inning, when the Mets scored the winning point! Another great day in New York City! :)

Day 99: Happy Easter!

My biggest regret from the trip is not being able to celebrate Easter.  I accidentally slept in through church and didn't get to do anything special for it. The Easter Bunny didn't even give me a basket. Rude. Instead we went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, and saw "Peter and the Starcatcher."  It turned out to be a great Easter Sunday.  I loved the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island meant even more after "Handing Down the Names."  "Peter and The Starcatcher" was brilliant!  I really enjoyed it. We went back to the hotel and stayed up rather late talking.  The picture is from the boat travelling back to NYC the two boys in the front are Adam and Koltyn! I think that's the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

Day 98: New York City!

Day two of New York.  We checked into our hotel and then the adventure started.  We went to the top of the Rock (Rockefeller Building), had a tour of the NBC studios, ate my first of many pieces of New York pizza, saw the matinee (I saw Newsies and it was SO GOOD! They were so talented, I might have fallen in love with Jack Kelly, and it made me cry.), went back to the hotel and "napped" but we didn't really have time to nap, then we headed to the night show (I saw "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" starring Nick Jonas.  It was pretty good although there was unfortunately some dirty jokes and inuendos. Nick Jonas wasn't too bad and his bow tie sold for 1300 dollars! That's crazy!  Then we went home and CRASHED.

Day 97: april seventh.

Day one of NYC!!! Yes, we took the red eye.  It was very disorienting to fly through Friday night and land in NYC on Saturday morning then go through the day like everything was normal.

Day 96: Worse than death.

This morning at our Student Council breakfast, a look came over my face.  Bailey asked "Bek, what's the matter?  It looks like you just saw death."  Well, I didn't see death, but I thought of something horrible.  I FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE YESTERDAY.  I know.  How could I? I've been so committed this whole year and haven't forgotten one. But with everything going on (packing, SCHOOL, hw, student council..) I totally spaced yesterday.  But upon this realization, I quickly took a picture of Bill and it will have to suffice.  Plus, it is leap year, so I should have one day where I don't have a picture.  When January 1st rolls around again, I will still have 365 pictures.  So all is not lost. 

Day 95: Stud Co

Isn't this picture great?  Mike-Dawgs face is probably my favorite. We had our first student council party tonight at Brennan's house.  There was food, fire, and friends.  What more could you want?  It was great hanging out with everyone, and kind of a relief that I don't have to be Student Body President.  I mean, it would be a great experience, but Brennan is just so dang good at it.  And everyone respects him.  And now I get to take pictures! :) So excited for next year!

Day 94: Bookworm

Well it happened again. I checked out a book during second period and finished it before I went to bed.  It was only 387 pages...no big deal...I ended up giving my whole afternoon up to it.  I even ate lunch while reading it.  I don't know why that happens, but when I get a good book, I just can't put it down.  Was it worth it?  Absolutely.

Day 93: Visits to the Hospital

Dad, Sammi, and I went to the hospital to visit Grandma Vicki.  Gosh, I hate hospitals.  I admire doctors and nurses who devote their lives to helping other people.  They aren't afraid of needles, blood, bodily fluids, or sickness.  I really hope my poor grandma can start feeling better and come home; I hate seeing her in pain.  But it was fun seeing her and talking to her.

Day 92: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yes, my twin cooks better than I do.  Tonight he made Choco Chip Cookies and they were very delightful.  We ended up dropping them off to some friends, and then just sat in the car and talked.  Mike is definitely one of my best friends and I don't know what I would do without him.
